It’s common to hear about the “ultimate” creative gift idea—cosmetic plastic surgery.
After all, officials say there were more than 11 million cosmetic procedures performed on women in the U.S. in 2010. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, that's up 81% from 10 years ago.

Dr. Andrew Elkwood of
The Plastic Surgery Center in New Jersey doesn’t recommend the treatments he and his partners do for “gift giving.” Elaborates Dr. Elkwood, “Plastic surgery is a highly-personalized and individualized choice. We are always scrupulous to make sure a potential patient is right for treatment, both psychologically and physically. If someone gives a procedure as a gift, a recipient might be tempted to use that gift—but for the wrong reasons.” In other words, motivation should come from within.
That being said, Dr. Elkwood reveals an interesting tidbit from his practice. An incredible surge in
Botox treatments occurs for the many patients about to attend a class reunion. Makes sense, since last year alone, there were 2.5 million Botox injections, and all told, Americans spent more than 10 billion dollars on cosmetic surgeries. That’s a lot of high school reunions.
