They came in both genders, all ages, and from throughout New Jersey-- a knowledgeable group of savvy consumers who took advantage of the experienced explanations of the doctors from The Plastic Surgery Center, each of whom spoke briefly on various cosmetic surgery procedures at one of their free seminars, this one held on September 21, 2011 at the Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank.
Guests ranged from ages 25 (“I came to hear about everything. You’re never too young to think about this,” she said, referring to cosmetic procedures), to over 70.

Pictured from left to right: Dr. Michael Rose, Dr. Andrew Elkwood, Dr. Matthew Kaufman—who with the rest of the practice answered questions following the presentation.
Dr. Andrew Elkwood kicked off the evening stressing that the goal of cosmetic procedures is that they look natural, and that the expectations of the patients be realistic. He also reminded participants that “cosmetic surgery is unique in medicine because we start with healthy patients and they need to remain healthy.”
Surrounded by their staff, each doctor explained procedures with the assistance of visual images presented in a slide show. Procedures discussed include
rhinoplasty and
brow lift;
breast surgery (augmentation, reduction, lift);
tummy tuck and
liposuction; non-invasive procedures, such as
Botox; and vein surgery. In addition to Dr. Elkwood, presenters were
Dr. Michael Rose,
Dr. Matthew Kaufman,
Dr. Tushar Patel,
Dr. Russell Ashinoff, and
Dr. Jonathan Weiswasser.

From left to right: June Silance, Red Bank, 69 years old in December, who has previously been a patient of The Cosmetic Surgery Center, recruited her friends to the seminar: Cheryl Impagliatelli, 60, Somerset, (grandmother of 9); Mary Best, 64, Barnegat; Sandy Grzelak, Manalapan, 62 (grandmother of 7).
The floor was then opened up to questions, which were extensive, and technically quite sophisticated. The doctors answered each one, but also expressed their bottom line: there is no “cookie cutter” approach. Each person must be considered individually to give appropriate detailed advice. Prospective patients should seek well-trained surgeons who operate judiciously.
